Armies of the Wise Ones

Opening Hand: Sammael, Dark Disguises, Therava, Dark Subversion, Sweat Tents (SA)

Turn 1: Put Sammael into the battleground, and if you think you will be safe, put him into the pattern challenge (or oppose a hero-initiated challenge if you are feeling nasty, and confident). Play Dark Disguises and get Caddar and The Bleakness. Play both of those cards. You can now recruit Therava for nothing using the effect of The Bleakness.

Turn 2: Declare Dark Subversion and put both your characters into it. If/when you win it, get Shaido Aiel and Sevanna out of your deck, (or if you happened to draw Sevanna first turn, get Modarra or Couladin), then use Therava's ability to get another Shaido Wise One.

General Tactics: Get all the Shaido Wise Ones out of your deck, as well as Couladin. Get them as quickly as possible, using Dark Subversion, Therava and Alarys'. Modarra is your next preference when you next get to choose a Wise One, because with Modarra and the extra One Power from Sweat Tents, you should be able to leave very few characters on the homefront every turn, and still recruit 2 or 3 or 4 troops in a single turn. Generally, once I have all the characters out, I put everyone into the Battleground until I have a full hand, then stay home and recruit. Then back to the Battleground. Peace of Rhidean keeps you safe if you find yourself in trouble at any time. Sabotage and Assasination Attempt will disrupt any plans your opponent may have. The speed of this deck is frantic for the first few turns. Don't be afraid to burn up your pattern to get out those first few characters - you need them out to really allow your deck to get going. Focus on characters early, then get onto your troops.

Comments: It took me a long time to get around to making a Shaido Wise One deck after I got Children of the Dragon, but when I did, I was hooked - currently my favourite Villain deck type. I won't put the Clan troops in this deck (Shaarad Aiel, Nakai Aiel etc.) because I rather play by leaving as few characters at home, or as on as few turns as I can. So I rather have cheap troops. I find that by putting large forces forward every turn, it gives the opponent something extra to have to think about every turn, and you can snatch the Pattern whenever there is little or no opposition. Even if you don't compete for something every turn, Peace of Rhuidean keeps you safe at least a couple of times a game to just go for whatever you want without worrying about being killed badly.

Last Battle: only played once for 80-something opposition - can go higher. 30-ish troop damage.
