The City of Illian

Opening Hand: Rand al'Thor 10 (1121 - Extra Card), Manifest Destiny, Illian Traders, King Mattin Stepaneos, Lucky Find, Lines of Command (SA)

Turn 1: Leave Rand at home and roll his dice. Play Lucky Find (Advantage, Character), which gets you A Crown of Swords. Play A Crown of Swords. Play Manifest Destiny. Recruit Illian Traders then rotate them to generate [PP]. Recruit King Mattin. No matter what happens, you can always recruit these 2 cards using pattern, but use some of Rand's symbols he rolls if you can, to save pattern. You can now search for Illian (twice if you want to - using Mattin and Manifest D.) and put it into play.

General Tactics: Get control of Illian second turn, so you can take advantage of it as soon as possible (Kings extra dice, Strong Loyalties etc.). From there it is fairly simple - draw cards using Strong Loyalities, Connections, A New Empire, possibly Invasion. Troops should be used for challenges, using Pre-emptive strike/Overrun combo. Remember to use your characters effect texts because there are some useful things in there (Bayle Domon, Lord Maric, Lord Eliris Mancuri especially). Hold onto The Horn of Valere if you think your opponent might win it off you. Play it one turn when you have Square of Tammaz in your hand, next turn declare a Horn of Valere challenge, and play Square of Tammaz - hopefully your opponent won't expect it, and you only have to win by 20. (Try to put enough people into the challenge to win by just over 20, so your opponent won't think they have to worry about you getting it that turn.)

60 cards (30 characters/troops)

Comments: An OK deck, but not worth playing if you have the cards to make something more powerful. If you can draw well early, and add quickly to your 9 dice character (the King) already on the table, you can usually control the battleground for at least a couple of turns.

Last Battle: Generally gets approx. 60 support and 30 damage (combined character & troop total) + more if you get the Horn of Valere.

1 win from 2 games.
